Flu...even with vaccine?

Okay so Saturday night I noticed my throat was getting sore so I had some tea and went to bed. The next morning, my voice sounded awful and I was running a high fever with a lot of body aches.
Yesterday I woke up with horrible sinus pressure and lightheadedness [probably due to lack of food...I have problems with my blood sugar]. I went to the student health center and they gave me some meds [just over-the-counter type of stuff]. By the afternoon I felt absolutely fine. My voice was still messed up but I felt great.
But then last night at like 4 am I woke up and threw up.
Soo basically I'm not going to any of my classes today which I hope doesn't mess up my grade...

Do these symptoms sound like the flu? I got a flu vaccine in November...

Thanks!

I just read that this year's vaccine was only good for about 40-50% of the flu viruses going around this year (normal is around 80%, I think). So maybe yeah.

I`m no doctor, you can still get sick with a Flu shot.

It doesn't sound like the flu. I'm a nurse. You probably swallowed a bunch or mucus and that's why you puked. If you have a fever for more than 2 or 3 days, you need to see a doctor. This flu season the main culprit is a type of flu not included in the vaccine.

If you have the fluyou won't feel bad one day and fine the next, so I don'y think you have the flu.
Anyhow the flu vaccine doesn't protect you from all the different strains of flu out there. The people who speclize in this kind of thing try to decide which type of flu will be the most prevalent. It varies from year to year, and make a vaccine for that... so you can get the flu even though you have had the vaccine.

well now they are using the dead A-string virus in the vaccine. and the live B-string is what is going around now. i just got over it. but im in medical studies, so i just wanted to tell you that you probably have the b-string virus.

It sounds like flu to me, or something very similar.

A few years ago there was a problem with the vaccine: Either it was tainted or it was for the wrong strain of flu. Fortunately I got the right shot, but a number of my co-workers didn't, and they got sick.

The good news- if you can consider it that- is that now you ARE going to be immune to this year's flu bug, once you get well.

Feel better.

You can get the flu even with a vaccine shot. The vaccine only covers the flue strains that they believe wel will have the most trouble with. They can't cover all of them. If a strain that was not included in the vaccine begins to spread, you can still get the flu.

you can still get the flu even with the shot. the shot is only a dose of the flu to make you immune to it but there are so many different flu viruses that it may never prevent it
