How to catch the flu when you've taken the flu shot?

Me and my wife have both taken the flu shot at different times this year and got them at different places. So how could we both get the flu? I got mine in Oct. could it have worn off?

The virus in the flu shot is only a best guess, and not 100% sure thing to keep you from even getting that flu. There are 100s of different viral strains of the flu. From what I've experienced, oftentimes the "flu" they vaccinate against is really a cold virus. I've rarely known anyone to get the flu shot and not get the flu. It really isn't that effective, and has harmful ingredients that weaken your immune system and make you more likely to get it. We avoid it here.

Here is a good article about the flu shot:

And some links to research flu and other vaccines:

Oh, almost forgot my favorite Flu Shot link:

Flu viruses mutate as they go through the population. The shot you got must have been different enough from the one that infected you such that the antibodies your body generated as a result of the shot did not recognize the mutated strain and therefore did not protect you.

They can't predict mutations.

Not Necissarily, there are many many different strains of the Influenza Virus. The people that are in charge of the shots decide which strains will be the worst. Sometimes they are right, other times they are wrong........

There are many strains of the flu - like there are many different races of people. The flu shot protects us against the more aggressive and prolonged strains that can cause death in some people and lengthy infections in others.

Therefore, most people will get the flu during winter even through they have been immunised, but it won't be too severe and usually last a couple of days to a week.

Wait, do you WANT the flu? I'm confused.

Hi
flu is a viral disease
many kinds of viruses can produce flu and flu like diseases
thus the cause is not A virus
flu shots are vaccines for most epidemic virises at the time of production and varies time to time ( year by year )
you vaccinated over some viruses and infected by another
thus flu vaccination has limited protection

No, it didn't wear off but flu vaccinations aren't a 100% guarantee that you won't get the flu or a strain of flu that you weren't vaccinated against.

This is exactly why the flu shot is completely useless. They give you last years "most common" strain of the flu virus. So it doesn't protect you from the other strains out there.

In my experience the flu shot does not work. It actually makes you MORE susceptible because it screws with your immune system. Maybe you won't get the exact strains of the flu in the shot but you'll probably catch something else. My mother always gets the shot and she always gets sick. I never get it because I'm allergic, and the one time I did (when I found out I was allergic) is the only year I've had a really bad bout with the flu.
