My son has been sick for 26 days with Flu like symptoms can someone tell me what it is????

Okay well my son has been to the doctors 6 times and they say it sounds like the flu the hosptial nurse linen says the same thing He has fevers from 103-105 that have been non stop for 26 days he is throwing up headaches stomache ache chest pains heart palputaions he sleeps like 15 hrs a day goes to bed at like 9 and wake up no earlier than 3 Any body have any ideas on what it is

He is 13 almost 14

I think your son needs a blood test and a chest x-ray. Usually fevers that last for more than a few days are a cause for concern, for suspects other than influenza, which at most is a two-week bout of initial fever, and fatigue.
You need a second opinion, because your doctors are not doing your son any favors by not checking for infectious agents other than the flu, and by not checking for other problems like mono, leukemia, colitis, hepatitis, etc.
Take him somewhere else and insist on a blood count, stool and urine cultures and a chest x-ray. If his eyes or tongue appears yellow, then get a complete liver panel done as well.

take him to the doctor as soon as possible.

acute hepatitis of some sort? You didn't say how old he was. Is it possible you have hcv and have given it to him at birth?

it's possible....dont mean to scare you, but there are many out there who do not know they are infected because not always is a liver panel conclusive to issues related to the liver. ALT and AST levels are not always elevated in chronic hcv infection.

OH my you need to take him to a different doctor a 103 and higher and do brain damage. Take him right now to the ER in a different area. Your doctor might now be catching everything. Good luck to you and God bless

well the smart thing would have been to take him to the doctor with in the first week he was sick.

Yeah doctors, take him there immediately. He could have pneumonia, because I had some of those same problems and thats what I had.

With the fevers he needs to be in the hospital, if nothing else for fluid replenishment and observation. Did you travel anywhere before he got sick? They need to do blood cultures, full blood panels, a spinal tap and possibly a neurology work-up. There are some viruses that produce these symptoms, although I have never heard of them lasting this long (doesn't mean it doesn't happen). If so, there will be little that they can do that you aren't already doing.

I would take him to the ER. If you have traveled, make sure you tell someone so that they can get the right specialist to evaluate him.

go to the dr

omg this sounds a lot like wat i had last year (i am in eight grade) wat happened with me was very similar flu like yes high fever yes headaches yes sleep alot yes no tests come back with any iformation im not a doctor and i dont know who you've gone to but with me it was mono the first blood tests ,everything was negative it took a further 3 months before we did another blood test and it was sent out of town and it came back pos. but by that time i was getting better mono is kinda weird because it comes out different in different people WARNING: if this is a virus of sorts beware of cfs later !!!!!

ok on the homework note haha i know the feeling!!! try to meet with the teachers and make a 504 plan you can have all work excused and stuff try really hard to get him to pass you can have almost everything excused (i.e. star testing constitution test and so fortth) if he doesnt pass the grade he will probable get depressed:((

ok just a little bit more with a diseas like that the er cant do much so the main reason for him being in a hospital is to make you feel better it'll make you feel that he is in safe hands

and just wondering were is he?? his room the couch and is it light?? it's proven that if there is sunlight it helps keep away depression wich at this point is probably vital

best of luck to you and im searching the web for you:D:D
