If you were around someone who got the flu the day after you saw them, is it possible you might not get it??

Very possible you are fine. Handwashing is the best way to prevent infection - especially the flu.

Yeah it's definitely possible. You won't get every illness that everyone you know has, even if you see them while they have it, or before they have it. Washing your hands is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of illness.

If they sneeze, cough, and the saliva drops fly freely in the air you breath then you have all the chances to get it too. Same if you eat or drink from the cups and plates they've ate or share food. Usually it takes more than a day to turn sick.

You can get it since your don't start getting flu symptoms until the virus has had time to incubate in your system (about 3-4 days). During that time you are still contagious to others. You may get the flu but not get the symptoms depending on how strong you immune system is at the time. Your body may be about to fight off the virus before you feel it. FYI, the flu shot didn't work this year since they chose the wrong strain. So even if you got the shot this year it may not help. Hope you can miss this years flu bug. I had the flu twice this year (two different kinds) and it was not pleasant. Good luck.
