I think my roommate has the flu, will i get sick? |
my roommate thinks she has the flu, i cant afford to get sick again i just got over a very bad sinus infection and am still on antibiotics. were in college and there is not that much space in between us. should i take some precautions? what should i do? You will get the flu if you don't get out of there IMMEDIATELY! eat oranges. stay 10 ft away Wash your hands every chance you get and tell her to go to the hospital. It DEPENDS on your Immune System. I have a great immune system, or so I will think till the most minimal disease kills me. Anyways, if you can handle being around sick people this should be a problem. But don't speak to close to her, maintain your distance. I personally think it is good to be around sick people at times, it'll help your immune system become stronger!!:) Look at it this way. stay in 1 of yur friends rooms Yes avoid them - drink oj and take vitamins. dont share blankets or anything Can you get a flu shot? Can your friend wear a mask of her face? (the doctor's ones) will she agree? can you? make sure to wash your hands often and if your roommate touches anything of yours, make sure to clean it before you use it. Also, you might want to talk to your RA in your dorm for advice. try and stay away...get out for as long as you can.. just avoid her in a nice way!! lol there are many immunity boosting things you can take. Not a guarantee but worth trying. I'm thinking you'll most likely get it. But ask a pharmacist what you can do to help...and really try to stay away from your roommmate. No kissing. duh that is as simple as it gets Well i would suggest that you try to remain as far as her/him and too keep distance. Also try not to share clothes, cups, food items or even drinks. Avoid as much contact as possible not if you stay way wash your hands dont touch anything they've touches!!!!!!!! use clorox whipes and lots of disinfectant spray's all over..! ALL THE TIME.. chances are you have like a 75% of getting sick!!!!!!!!! I work in a hospital and our infectious disease department is on the "look out" for EVERY SINGLE PERSON washing, washing and re-washing their hands. THAT is the best way to keep from getting sick. I had a flu shot but evidently, it only covers about 40% of the strain out there. A lady I work with got the same flu shot and a month later did get the flu really bad.......just keep washing your hands, use a towel to open doors your roommate touches -- disinfect the phone -- everything used by this person. Good chance of infection. Go to a friend's and wash your hands as soon as you can. If you have to stay there, the only things you can do is wash hand often, spray disinfectant on the door handles, phones, keyboards, all handles, the bathroom faucets, ect, and lock yourself in your room. Eat well, sleep well, and stay warm and hydrated. definatley up the intake of vitamin C. find a different place to stay if possible. You are screwed! Haha, ok sry that's mean but I couldn't resist :) Eat healthy, drink lots of water, wash your hands and the furniture a lot, and BUY WELLNESS FORMULA! They have it at Fred Meyer here; but probably not everywhere...ok i'm cracking myself up!! but anyways, it works really good, so buy some of that if you can find it, and eat 3 tablets 3 times a day. and/or/both/neither drink Emergen-c, or Airborne. Hope that helps, stay well! Rent a motel for two weeks.I know how you feel.My daughter just gave us the flue 3 weeks ago, then as I got almost over it I caught a terrible sinus infection(I have a bad tooth that I need pulled)anyway I'm on antibiotics right now, don't think thier working, gonna have to call the doc tomorrow and have him give me something stronger.Good luck. Spray disinfectant around the room & keep away from her if she sneezes as a sneeze hovers. You might get the Flu, depends on what strain your RM has. Most likely, Yes. If you have been close to RM while RM had a fever, you exponentially increase your chances of contracting the Flu. Your antibiotics may be for a different, or less virulent form of infection. Drink plenty of fluids, and rest as much as you can. Do Not Take Aspirin. This will make you contagious. maybe, maybe not. My old roommate was sick all the time colds, flu, even bronchitus (sorry not good at spelling) one time and most i ever got while living with her was a few week long colds over the span of four years. its called air born bacteria!!! Are you taking vitamins...especially like extra C vitamins... you or your room mate has to leave the room in order to protect you and it may already be late. |
