I think I got the flu, how long will I be sick?

I keep getting chills, then massive sweating episodes, sneezing, coughing, sinuses swollen, runny nose, dry eyes, sore throat, headaches and overall dizzyness, drowsiness. I had it 3 days now. My kids keep passing it back and forth and this house is in need of some good lysol. How long does this thing last?

Actually you are describing the common cold!

Flu does not pass backward and forward in the family. It runs through everybody. Their immune system builds up the antibodies and that is that!

The Flu virus is actually quite unsuccessful, unlike the cold viruses, which mutate with each generation!

Because cold viruses mutate so quickly, they can be a nuisance in families for weeks! There are ways to reduce their impact, like diet and dietary supplements.

I will not suggest any folk remedies, because they may, or may not work.

Google "cold cures".

7 days bed rest. With kids, its a ping pong game at full throttle. Have lots and lots of warm fluids, take antibiotics prescription for cough control, avoid milk, and there you are, slim and trim.

Wash your hands more often to stop spreading the virus back and forth.

It depends on your immune systom AND on if you are taking meds or not. Have you seen your doctor? It can last anywhere from a week to esveral months man. No one can tell you how long you will be sick. But if you havent gotten any meds you need to get some quick. Not to scare you but if its not treated it could kill you. I am forced to get a flu shot every year because I am diabetic so if I get it Im in the woods so to speak waiting to see if im going to live or die. Good luck and I hope you feeel better soon. :) You are in my prayers.

I don't know which state you live in but I'm in VA.
Here the flu season is in full swing. I had that very thing which seemed to last 2 weeks, and I am just getting lined out.
My children have had Vommiting and Diareah off and on for 2 weeks. I wonder how much longer that will last with them also.
Good luck and God Bless Hope you all get better soon.
