Sore throat after having the flu?

So i was sick wit the flu for the past few days, I'm feeling better now but I have a horrible sore throat that wont go away. I've tried all of the over the counter sore throat stuff, doesnt work. Throat losengers dont work either. I drink plenty of cold water which doesnt work but i do it anyways. Is there anything I can do other than go to the dr? Ive already been to the ER once this week and i cant afford to go again.

I assume the ER said that it isn't based on an illness, and considering you just had the flu, it's very probable that it's from the bile acids (from throwing up) that burned your throat that you didn't get washed out early enough.
Taking drugs/lozenges won't help if they haven't yet, so don't keep taking them. Just drink plenty of water, try gargling with warm salt water, try sipping (not drinking fast, just drink it slowly) some tea with honey, and let your voice rest as much as possible. It'll probably take a few days of rest and healing, but your throat should feel better soon with that. Good luck!

If you had a sore throat when you went to the ER and they tested you for strep and it was negative, then you might try sucking on raw ginger. Stay away from oranges and chocolate until it is gone because it will aggravate it.

If you didn't get a strep test when you went to the ER you may be able to go to your family Dr. and be able to go to just the lab without an appointment for a strep test. Many Dr. offices provide this service.

If all else fails, go to a free clinic. Call your local Chamber of Commerce and they will help you find one in your area.

Cold water is probably make it worse. Try drinking warm tea with lemon and honey or just gulping a spoonful of honey. Also, I like the Ricola honey lemon lozenges. You can also gargle with warm salt water.
