Strength training and the flu.? |
I was working out pretty hard on a regular basis, but then I got the flu. I've been doing nothing for like the past week, and I'm worried I'm losing the muscle I worked so hard to build. I'm still pretty sick, but I'm wondering when it's okay to start working out again. Do I need to wait until I'm 100% better? Or 50% better? or what? Should I continue drinking protein shakes even if I'm not working out or stop those too? need advice! the most important thing is to listen to your body. only you know if you can make a go of it. You should not loose muscle that you gained but continue to get in your protein. 2 grams of protein per pound of body (ie if you weight 150 you should be intaking 300 grams of protein). this is to keep the muscle that you have worked hard in the gym for. your muscles will start growing at a faster rate once you are back in the gym especially if you are a beginner because that is when you get the most gains of muscle mass. you will be alright just remember to keep training like a freak since the flu is worse than a cold i say you should stop. youll be better in not time then you can pick it up. if you are in your teens then your muscle wont go away in just a week and once you get back into working out it will all come back to you. Protein shakes are going to strengthen your flu. |
