Ive had stomach flu symptoms a few days every month for about a year drs dont seem to know anything.HELP! plz!

I am miserable every month! I throw up and stay nauseous for 3-4 days at a time..no diarreah no fever....Drs will either think im pregnant which i am NOT i know for sure..or they will tell me i have a stomach virus..but isnt once a month a little too often to have the stomach virus..most people get it a few times a year at the most..anyone have any idea what this might be?

These days it is common for doctors to diagnose a stomach flu be it or not. Most of the time it may not be and is not the case. There can be a hundred other reasons. No I have not heard of anyone getting stomach flue once a month. What in heavens? No way. And if you have been treated for the stomach flu, the did you ask your doctor the reason for the recurrence. You may well be having possibly other causes for it. I know for sure that in stomach flu one does get fever. But you say that you did not have any fever. Pregnancy is out of question as such you said. I think you should see a good gastro-enterologist and get a once and for all diagnosis for the problem. Throwing up and nausea like in your case can be very upsetting. Let him do an endoscopy. It is a little uncomfortable, not painful, but will give you a sure shot diagnosis of your problem. At the same time try to take plenty of steamed vegetables at least twice a day, vit. C, B-Complex, and a good multi-vitamin mineral supplement. At night take light food with vit.D milk better still fat free. If there is any infection in the stomach which I doubt very much, it will keep the same in check. Sometimes, nausea and vomitting can be the result of stomach disorders and they can be corrected by antacid preventing medications like Zantac 150 mg twice a day or Prilosec once a day. Additionally if you take three sips of cold milk four to five times a day it will hep you a lot. Hyperacidity, associated with gas production can cause a lot of problems. Please ensure that your diet at night is light and not oily. Best wishes for an early recovery. Ray

You have to go to the doctors. You might think they'll tell you those things, but who knows. Do yourself a favor and go see one.

Not sure how old you are, but i remember when i was in high school i used to get really sick once a month. It was usually midway between my menstrual cycle. I remember throwing up and passing out from the pain. This continued for about a year until i finally went to see an obgyn ( i was only 16). They put me on a low dose birth control pill for about 6 months and i never had those severe pains again. I remember the pain felt a lot like a stomach flu or food poisoning. hope this helps, i know i was miserable for a while, goodluck!
