Pregnant with the flu - do I have bruised ribs or something else?

Let me start by saying I plan on calling my doctor when they open, just didn't think this warranted waking the on-call doctor up at this point...

I have had congestion/body aches/coughing since Saturday - I was able to blow my nose until yesterday, now nothing comes out, and the congestion is getting worse. Since yesterday, also, I have been very achy in my rib cage, especially when I cough, and I have heard that you can bruise your ribs from severe coughing ... Just wondering if this is true, or if this is something else. I am also 31 weeks pregnant - just so you have all of the information.

Wow - Thanks for that one - Um, if you actually read what I wrote, you would see that I am planning on going to my doctor, and am just looking for information from other people. Really, thanks - Enjoy your point.

I have never heard that you could bruise your ribs from coughing, however, my daughter pulled a muscle in her tummy from coughing when she had the flu. I agree with you that you should call your doctor though just to be on the safe side.

Go to a Doctor.
