Bird Flu HELP!!!?

question 1:

If a bird has bird flu, can it be cured?

question 2:

If an animal, for example a dog, gets bird flu, can it be cured?



The answers are needed for my homework presentation, so answer it A.S.A.P

Most of the time the bird is killed or dies. In a lot of countries now, as soon as one bird gets sick all of the birds in the flock are killed. Avian influenza is carried naturally by wild ducks who spread it to other birds. Some countries have an active vaccination campaign to vaccinate their chickens and ducks against "highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza" - the most severe strain right now.
I've not heard of any dogs getting bird flu. I know cats can get it. There were several tigers at a zoo in Thailand (I think) that were fed chickens that had died of bird flu and the tigers got it and died.
It is VERY difficult for people to catch bird flu.

Sweetie, I think bird flu tends to stick among birds rather than Dogs.

** Yes pets can be cured of general flues - just like us humans they are given antibiotics etc.

However the real " BIRD FLU " the birds have to be put down - I don't think it can be cured and is VEry contagious

if a bird gets avian flu (bird flu) is has to be put down, as well as any birds it may have come into contact witt. bird flu is highly contagious.
i am pretty sure at the present time dogs can't get bird flu, but there have been cases of humans beings contracting a mutated form of the disease, so anything is possible.
