I just got over a nasty respiratory flu.... and still have a chronic cough? |
All last week had influenza-B, all respiratory. Starting to feel better, but still have a chronic cough and constant runny nose. How long does this type of flu last??? Post-infectious cough is a common patient complaint. It usually improves after 1-2 weeks, but can last up to 2 months. If the cough is causing you a lot of discomfort, you might try an non-prescription cough suppressant (i.e. Robitussin DM) or, if that fails, a trial of inhaled albuterol (prescription only). If you develop new fevers, trouble breathing, or cough up large amounts of thick phlegm, see your doctor. could last upto 30 days to relieve all the symptoms. just use vicks vapor rub and warm steam showers and baths will help releive the cough. It will take up to about 10 days or so to get completely better. I know this sounds quite weird, but before you go to bed put Vicks Vaporub on the bottoms of your feet and put on socks. I have many colds and asthma and find this works quite well although I felt quite silly the first time! Now I swear by it for a nasty cough. As a bonus you get nice soft feeties too! Can't say more than Dr. C has already said. I know so many people with this problem this year. |
