Any tips for getting over the flu (tested positive influenza A)?

Yeah, my immune system stinks. I am to tired to eat or drink. Thank you all!

There are lots of things you can do:
1)over the counter and home remedies (zicam, zinc lozenges - supposedly reduces the amount of time you are sick, crystallized ginger - fights or staves off infection and found in your local grocery store, works for me everytime - along with all kinds of home remedy foods that I won't mention because of your loss of appetite. I'm sure you know all those remedies - lots of liquids, soup with high salt content, peppermint - settles the stomach, etc...
2) Place extras layers of clothing on to keep your body warm and eliminate and avoid chills, while at the same time using a moist warm towel to moisten your face - this helps to release fever. It's really important not to allow yourself to have chills.
3) If things get worse, a simple test at hospital can determine if they can give you an antibiotic if that works for you and you aren't allergic to antibiotics. I once had flu like symptoms that progressed into flu and then to walking pneumonia - an antibiotic quickly knocked that out for me. Another time, they took the test on me and determined it wasn't a virus, so no antibiotics and had to just used prescription painkillers to allow for more comfort during the ordeal.
4) Rest and relaxation. Avoid work and other stressful situations and take extra rest. Sometimes, that alone can help your body and your immune system return to normal quickly.
5) Grandmum always took and / or gave a good shot of whiskey in between meal time, that always cleared the alimentery (digestive) canal quickly anyway, but it was used very rarely.
6) Follow your instincts. Sometimes you know right away what is going to work for you, as far as restoring your health, and can help you get better faster.
7) Ask others for their remedies and TLC (you've done it by asking this question) and get well soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get plenty of rest and follow your doctor's instructions.

You need some bed rest and try not to overdo anything. If you do anything, make sure it's something you can do such as light lifting or something that doesn't require heavy lifting.

Did they put some type of wire down your noise to test it? I was sick this year and they did that to me! It's the first time I've seen them do a actual test, fortunely it tested negative. If you got the flu like that you are one sick puppy. Rest, fluids, is all you can do at this point. Good luck!

oh my gosh i totally feel for you, i went to the hospital back in february and tested positive for the same! they put me on an iv since i was so dehydrated and i swear to god i left the hospital feeling SO much better. drink drink drink that water and i promise you'll feel better. tylenol pm was a great tool too to help me sleep through the night. did you get a Rx for tamiflu? it didnt help me at all, but i still took all of it. feel better!!! i know its rough!

Lots and lots of rest.

Do not go to school or work (whichever you have)...call out sick and get a doctors note.
You cannot overexert yourself, your body needs the energy to fight the infection.

I know it can be really difficult to want to eat or drink something, but you will need to give your body food and water so that it has energy to fight the infection with. If you have it, get gatorade, because it has electrolytes. If not, just drink water throughout the day.

You can also try having some toast, but if your stomach doesn't like it then you can try making yourself some soup, which is really good for you when you are sick.

Just rest on the couch or in bed and get yourself some food...it will give your body the energy it needs to get rid of the virus.

That does tend to happen as we get older. Rest, and fluids are a must. Chicken broth made right from bullion is really good to help replace the loss of vitamins from sickness. I'm so sorry you're ill. Try to rest as much as possible and do try to drink fluids. You don't want to dehydrate, that will only make matters worse. Take care and get well. :)

Oh dear is there anything worse, just have the tissues on standby at all times, lol.

Lots of fluids, especially hot things. Hot tea with lemon might help. Also, take advil or the like to help with the aches. Then obviously get plenty of sleep.

You need to drink plenty of fluids to flush it through. have you heard of the saying Feed a cold Starve a fever. It works.
Hope you feel better soon.

a lot of rest, I know your use to running we all are. stay in summers coming.

body aches, headaches-tylenol, fever-advil, food, easy soups, nothing toheavy, water,tea,-fluids keep from hydration, plenty of rest, hope you feel better soon, take care,
