'flu pandemic. is the Government taking sensible steps or are they hoping to save on pensions?

I had heard on the grapevine that local authorities are training extra Registrars to produce death certificates when the pandemic hits this country (UK) Given that the elderly or very young are most likely to die in this sort of thin, would it not save a lot of money in pensions and education costs if they just let it run it's course?

Carolus. I want my telegram of the Queen or King and that is many years ahead. Although if it is some blasted politician I will forget about the telegram.
The Scouser I am aware that my last question was removed . I'm not sure if they thought i was being nasty about Gordon Brown or the French President's wife in which case I apologise to the French President's wife. On the other hand I may have given to much information about myself

Yes.
I wouldn't put anything past them.
It would balance the budget.

.
Scouse, they removed the last question
I answered from you.
The trench mouth.

You're not factoring into the situation the "healthy" people who get sick, as well. If left to it's natural course, the flu would hit a greater, and wider slice of the population, affecting all types of businesses with employee abscences, etc, affecting the economy for all people. That's just one example.....the medication costs, heath care costs, among other things would soon outstrip education or pension costs, just because the flu affects a wide population and is not self limiting, it's merely the youngest and oldest who are most likely to die.

woolwine is right.

influenza type A does not operate in the same way as the "winter flu" (influenza B or C).

with absolutely no immunity to any parts of these strains result in immune systems which can go into overdrive and can be catastrophic --- cytokine storms, resulting lung damage and acute respiratory distress syndrome (lungs filling with blood and other fluids), and multi-system organ failure.

so, it is very possible that influenza A can kill people of all ages.

in Philadelphia, and many other parts of the world, undertakers travelled the streets yelling for people to bring out the dead during the H1N1 1918 Pandemic that killed up to 100 million (50-100 million) people across the globe.

this is an option for those who have stopped thinking-or with short circuits.Would you like to be one of those who are to die?

nothing will change it if it happens

your body needs time to create antibodies (the reason you have it for a while if you catch it). the antibodies are the reason you get the shot in the first place.
