Very sick 6 year old with the flu...need some advice.?

Okay so my neice has the flu, and she has had it for almost three days. She started out with a fever, and now she is just really exhausted and has been throwing up. But when she throws up it's usually just clear and thick. Her eyes are droopy, and she doesnt even talk much. I have been trying to give her pedialyte and water, but its hard because she just keeps throwing it up. I know its the flu and she is going to be feeling bad for a while, but what can I do to help more?

Aww, the poor baby!
My 5 year old had the flu--actually she is still getting over it and it has been 6 weeks.
My poor daughter tested positive for type A AND B flu!
Anyways, if she keeps throwing, she needs to go to the doctor. They will give her some meds to help keep fluids done.
When you are giving her liquids, give her a Tablespoon at a time.
Try some stale pop, like Sprite,7-up or Ginger Ale.
You can also try letting her suck on a ice-cub, anything to get liquids in her, that is the most improtant thing--you can also freeze the pop or pedialyte in ice-cube trays.
Other then that, all you really need to do for her is let her sleep. Give her meds for fever and achy body--Motrain,Tylenol or Advil---the childrens kind.
A nice warm bath might sooth her for a short time.
Advoid soild foods right now. When she stops throwing up, start off with jello, clear soup broth, mashed potatoes, toast, crackers. They will be the easiest on her tummy.
Other then that, give her lots of love, my daughters always like being close to me when they are sick.

Once again, if she keeps throwing up the fluids she really needs to go to the doctor.

She has to drink, even if she vomits again. Try with smaller portions, spoon by spoon. Pedialyte is OK. You can give it as much as she can take. Slowly.

But, droopy eyes, it sounds like she's already dehydrated. If she will not start to drink ( and keep the fluid) in few hours, you have to take her to emergency. Dehydration may be really dangerous.

dear auntie

take that child to the ER asap if you cannot get an immediate appointment with her pediatritian. 3 days is long enough. the fear is dehydration which leads to kidney failure. children are much more fragile than adults.

Keep her warm, sponge her if shew has a high temperature, this helps expel excess heat. Give her plenty of fluid. I find drinking orange juice helps me with a common cold as opposed to water (haven't had flu since I was age 8). See a doctor.
