Is there a vaccine against H7 bird flu for domestic chickens available in the UK? |
You may have heard that the H7 strain of bird flu was discovered on a farm in Oxfordshire. I live just inside DEFRA's 10km protection zone and I have two hens. I'm doing everything I can to stop the virus getting to them but there's nothing I can do about wild birds and I wondered if there was a vaccine. I understand that the virus can't spread to humans but my hens are more pets that livestock and I don't want them culled or killed by bird flu. I also asked in Pets > Birds i have had a look and defra are advising people to pen birds up and keep away from other birds. until the protection zones are down or they give it the all clear. but this strain is deadly to the h7 strain. |
