Is there a for sure way to tell the difference between the flu and food poisoning?

like what symptoms do they not share.

Food poisoning:
Severe nauseas and usually vomitting
stomach pains
possible rash/not as often
Usually occurs within 2 hours of meal

Flu:
Stuff nose
Headache
Fever

ive had both. with food poisoning my stomach hurt like crazy. but i didnt puke. i know a lot of people do though. it was a really sharp pain in my side. im tolerant with pain and i cried. at the hospital i didnt have a fever, so to my knowledge i never had one, and ive had one when i had the flu

EDIT: food poisoning for me went away within 24 hours like the doctor said. but my sister was in the hospital for it, and was also dehydrated and she stayed for 4 days
