I was exposed directly to a bad case of the flu. How long would it be before I get it?

I volunteer in the nursery in my church for one hour. During my hour, one of the babies started throwing up. It wasn't like a spit up, but more like a full out flu throw up. We called the parents, and the child was taken home to be taken care of. However, I helped to clean up the vomit. This was all yesterday, and I'm not feeling so hot today. I have a stomach ache and I've been having diarrhea today. Could it be possible that the flu germ has gotten to me this quickly?

The incubation period is pretty short--about 1-2 days.

Usually the gestation period for colds and flu is 3 days, so if you got it sooner that that, you may have already had it before the incident with the baby.

You probably came into contact with someone else that is contagious. Usually it takes a few days to a week to get sick when you come into contact with someone that is sick like that. Depending on what illness it is, it can take a few days to several weeks.....
