Sars, Bird Flu, Mad Cow Disease Etc..

whatever happened to these? I don't understand how they can just disappear...anyone else heard news about these diseases since their outbreaks?

Several months ago, I called the CDC and spoke with one of the doctors in the 鈥淔lu Division.鈥?I identified myself by name and as a physician, and he gave me his name and position. I asked him how a physician like myself could possibly differentiate 鈥淏ird flu鈥?from 鈥渞egular flu.鈥?He answered, 鈥淵ou really can鈥檛.鈥?

I asked him if we physicians were asked to go house to house to check for people with bird flu with the possibility of quarantine of the patient (for how long?) and the potential for the quarantine to cause the person to lose income or even to lose his job, how could we distinguish 鈥淏ird flu鈥?from the 鈥渞egular flu鈥? He agreed it would be virtually impossible.

Then I asked him why President George W. Bush was publicly contemplating QUARANTINE for these patients? His response was, 鈥淗e didn鈥檛 get that from us here at the CDC. That鈥檚 ALL politics!鈥?br> But Now The CDC IS Talking About Quarantine

What happened? Consider that just over 240 people have died of bird flu. Was there ever a story there.....hardly. Sars and Mad Cow....no story there either.
