Do you get a flu shot? ?

Please let me know your opinions on it! Thanks! We have never gotten one before and am not sure if we should...2 years ago we were sick from dec till june i dont want to repeat that again.....i also tend to have my colds settle in my chest so i was thinking i should..any help would be appreciated!

I am totally afraid of needles and the pain..how bad does it hurt? does it hurt worse than getting blood drawn?

I work in a school and many parent don't have the sense to keep their kids at home when they are sick, so I get one every year without fail.

I would much rather have a milder case of the flu with the shot than be sick for a longer period of time.
Of course there are no guarantees but I would rather not take the chance.

Edit: The shot itself isn't that bad really. Afterwards your arm may be sore for a couple of days. Really nothing to worry about.

I did last year. It was covered by my insurance. Of course, that might not help much if you get a flu virus that wasn't in the vaccine, like what happened to a lot of people last flu season.

But at least it offers some protection, for a minimal price and risk. I've had the flu a couple of times and it was horrible and I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Edit: I didn't get the flu last year. The shot, yes. Flu, no. My parents, who didn't get the shot, DID get the flu, but I don't know if it was a flu virus included in the shot or the other ones that went around that nobody got shots for.

I've gotten them the last few years.

If you've got kids or work with people who do, it's a good idea because of the way kids pass germs around.

It's no guarantee you won't get the flu, but it reduces the chances of getting it.

I haven't gotten a flu shot in about 6 years
I have only caught the flu once in that time
and I just slept it off
