Please help...do I have the flu?

I feel totally crappy, hot and cold chills, every time I eat something I run to the bathroom. And just totally ache all over.

Also what can I do to ease some of the symptoms? I've taken tylenol any help would be appreciated. Oh and what can I eat when I have these symptoms. Are rice or crackers good choices?

It sounds like a viral infection or a flu-like infection of the stomach.

I would try to eat clear broth or chicken soup. If you eat rice to bind you make sure it's long cooking, not Minute rice. Juice (100 percent) is good, any type of fluids including water.

Kaopectate or imodium could help with loose stool but you still want to know why this is happening.

I would get to the doctor asap.

Best of luck and health!

It sounds like you're a victim of the influenza virus currently going around. I've recovered from it not too long ago. If it's within 48 hours of the onset of your symptoms, see a doctor for some Tamiflu (you can't let it do any longer or it will be useless). It will help decrease the severity and duration of your symptoms (if you have the flu).

In the meantime, keep up your hydration. You can easily become dehydrated when you're running a fever. Since you don't feel like eating, get some drink like Powerade that contains electrolytes and carbohydrates in it so you won't feel so lethargic from not eating. Rice and crackers (without butter or anything "fatty" are good choices - if you were in Australia, we would recommend Vegemite on those crackers...hehe).

You can take Tylenol or Nurofen (if Tylenol isn't doing it for you) for the symptoms. Bear in mind that Nurofen - because it's an anti-inflammatory - can decrease the immune response. You want a temperature to help kill the virus but you don't want it so high that you start hallucinating or having seizures. Keep a thermometer handy and take your temperature from under your tongue (without biting on it - just rest it under your tongue).

Hope you feel better soon. =)

be careful try and stay in bed. drink alot of fluids, soup is good, but dont eat alot at a time just to be sure. if you have a feaver stay under covers keep takin tylonol dont take advil it wont help your stomach. you can take tums and depending on how long you have been sick you should go 2 the doc if youve been sick for more than 4 or 5 days

hope you feel better

It is possible that you could have the flue, or you might just be sick or you could have gotten food poisoning. I think rice is a good choice to eat, I am not so sure about crackers though. Soup would be terrific though. Hope this was of some help!

food poisoning

you might have food posioning
but you should go to the doctors.
