Does anybody know how persisting conditions affect the Swine Flu? |
My daughter is a school teacher and she was recently diagnose with Lupus. My question is does certain disease makes you more likely to catching swine flu, or if you do catch it does it make it worse? I also have lupus. The effects of swine flu on lupus depends what medications she takes like steriods or immune suppression drugs These drugs may suppress her own natural immune system and thus make it difficult to fight the H1N1 flu. If by some chance she does get the flu, it could cause her to have a flare or some type of secondary infection. Does she have any renal involvement? This might also determine the severity of the flu. I would suggest that she be very aware of any person or child that might be sick. Also, as the new reports having been saying, wash your hands, wash your hands!! She should also speak with her own Dr. to discuss any fears she may have. I'm just trying to take precautions, but I'm not going to stop living because of this outbreak. If the virus becomes more widespread, I will take more precautions. There is no need to panic! Good luck and be well! |
