What are some opinions about this Swine flu? |
I'd really like to not buy into it and everything but people at work and some people in my family are goin crazy about it and I'm a little paranoid. I was wondering what some opinions were about it. Regular flu kills 36,000 people a year in the United States and estimated 375,000 worldwide, About 90 percent of those deaths are among people older than 65 who already have health problems and cause their underlying disease to decompensate and then they don't have the reserves to fight the regular virus. Peoples are worried about the new swine flu outbreak because many of those who died in Mexico have been young and otherwise healthy individual. The type of flu that has popped up, which we call the swine flu, has the same protein structure as the Spanish Flu that popped up many years before. Many people are worrying that this might be the same type of flu, just immune to more medicines that we currently have. Most types of unique flu's that have appeared in the last century have had an average death rate of 1 million people. The type of flu that people are relating to swine flu, the spanish flu, had a death rate of 40-100 million people. This is the main reason that people are freaking out about it, but they still aren't sure if the spanish flu is exactly the same as the swine flu, so there still is hope. im dead scared!! Well i work in a doctors office and literally all ppl talk about is this flu! Its in the back of my mind and im a little concerned but honestly if ur healthy normally and get treatment if you get it you will be fine!! Its not any diff than the normal flu that in fact kills over 30,000 ppl a year! So yes its on everyones mind but the media is making it out way worse than it is..in my opinion! im pretty paranoid about the swine flu too , but if you wash your hands you should be fine .... but if something happens that you start feeling sick you should see a doctor. I'm not that scared. At first, I wasn't worried. Then, I found out I had 48(or 58) confirmed cases in my area. In a scale through 1-10, i'm picking 5. I wasn't really worried about it all until just a little while ago I found out there has been 2 confirmed cases in my area! Now I'm worrying myself sick. Lol! I think it was brought back by Spring Breakers. Well always wash your hands. And they have nothing to worry about. I'm not worried, and I'm currently living in Mexico. |
