How can I be cautious to avoid the Swine flu at my work environment?

I work in a customer service environment where I run a cash register, and have to shelf movies back to their spots. I try to wash my hands and use hand sanitizer at work every hour. But is there anything else I can do?

Stay healthy by eating right and getting plenty of sleep. This will keep your immunity system strong and will help it resist the H1N1 virus if you should come into contact with someone who may be a carrier.

Hiya,

Just like any other flu, this is passed through droplets. You do NOT need a mask and most of them don't work. Surgical masks are designed to keep the surgeons bugs from being exhaled onto a patient, not to prevent the patient's bugs from being inhaled. In any case, they become saturated very quickly and stop filtering.

You will get it from airborne drops of bodily fluids entering your system. After a sneeze or a cough, the droplets are forced by gravity to fall. They will land anywhere--they don't stay suspended in the air.

Wash your hands frequently and well. Wipe down surfaces that get touched by many people who may not share your enthusiasm for hand hygiene. If you cough or sneeze into your hands, wash them. If someone coughs or sneezes onto you, wash them. The droplets can land anywhere, and if you then touch your face....

Truely, this has been a media hype. The only way to prevent cross infection is to avoid being sneezed and coughed on, avoid touching things that have been sneezed and coughed on and wash your hands frequently and well.

You could wear gloves, if you're not allergic to anything in the gloves. Preferably the ones that doctors wear. Also, don't touch your face. Touching your face is a way to get even the most minor things. Maybe have a cloth in your pocket or something, or have a personal box of Kleenexes so that when you do have to touch your face or something, you can cover your hands with something. Sure you may look silly, but does that really matter? Especially if you live somewhere with reported cases. Just try and be wary of who you're working with, and if they seem a little sick, it's probably best to avoid them, or stay a safe distance.

Another idea is to eat good foods that give your immune system a boost. Veggies are probably your best bet. A good immune system means a lesser chance of catching the H1N1 Flu (they don't want you calling it 'swine' flu).

Keeping in shape also makes you stronger in general, and will boost your immunity.

As long as you eat fairly healthy, and you go to the right measures to keep yourself safe. Use some of these tips and you'll be relatively safe! Good luck!

Wear a mask, always wash your hands in West Philadelphia born and raised on the playground was where I spent most of days, chilling out maxing, relaxing all cool shooting some b-ball outside of the school when a couple of guys that were upto no good, started making trouble in my neighbourhood. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared and said "You're moving with your aunt and uncle in Bel-air". I whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said 'FRESH' and there was dice in the mirror, if anything I could say that this cab was rare but I though nah forget it "Yo' homes to Bel-air". I pulled upto the house about 7 or 8 and I yelled to the cabby "Yo' homes smell ya' later" looked at my kingdom I was finally there, to settle my throne as the Prince of Bel-air.

Don't stand to close to anyone who looks sick. And stay out of their airway. (like if they cough or anything like that don't pass that way.) And like you have already said wash hands and use the sanitizer every time you take or receive anything from anyone. (money or movie or anything.) Best of luck.

Why don't you try aromatherapy? there are several essential oils which can kill germ in the air.

You are doing all the right stuff! Wash your hands and annoy people with colds. Its the same rules as when it flu season...this is no difference...the media is making too big a deal about it!!

that's all you can do. don't worry, this will all be forgotten in 2 weeks

Just keep a tube or two of the new Oinkment available.

keep your hands away from your mouth, nose and eyes

buy gloves and a surgical mask

wear a mask
