What is the difference between a flu and the swine flu?

The symptoms are basically the same, right? How can someone tell if they have the swine flu rather than just a normal flu?

Regular seasonal flu has killed 13,000 people in the US since January this year. There has been 1 death in the US due to this new flu, of a baby exposed to the virus in Mexico (didn't "catch it" in US).

H1N1 Influenza, the new name for swine flu, has killed 11 people on a planet with BILLIONS of people. There are 160 confirmed cases in the US, with a population of over 300,000,000.

Symptoms of swine flu are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. A significant number of people who have been infected with this virus also have reported diarrhea and vomiting. Labwork is the only way to tell one flu from another.

If you think you have the flu (ANY flu), stay home, drink fluids and rest. See your MD if you have symptoms that seem to require treatment.

Hi,

At the moment, only medical trained specialist - like doctors - could determine whether the flu is a normal flu or a swine flu.

But if you have travelled to restricted countries and you get caught with a flu - chances are it is a swine flu.

Don't panick. Although there are no known cure for this type of disease yet, just exercise caution and keep authorities inform of any sign of it.

Allow me to share with you dear readers the information I dont want to keep as a secret - but rather as an information that need to share to.

There are known cure for this type of disease and it could be administered using oxygen. This oxygen therapy has produced amazing results and kept secret to modern science for more than half a century.

yes you are correct they are just like the basic flu, which is very hard to reach to a point if its the swine flu or the flu go to the doctors dont wait no more than 3 days if you are sick if you have a temp of 100 or more and stuff like that the best sorce to your question is the only way you would actually find out is to go to your local doctor or ER good luck.

swine flue is where human flue has merged with pig flue to create a new strain. its more dangerous than normal flue bcoz its alot more contagious as we have no resistance to animal illnesses. so basicaly it more dangerous coz more people are gonna get it, therefore more people are gooing to die.
and u cnt tell by urself ud have to have samples taken and get tested.

there is not really a difference. the swine flu is just a type of the flu that has a different kind of strand of the original or commonly known type of flu. other than that, the only difference is how severe it is and how you can obtain it.

well anyone who gets the flu are gonna think they hav swine flu coz thats how people are and your just supossed ta treat it like normal flu, rest, water and cold and flu tablets its not as dangerous as normal flu and the fuss they are making is really kinda pointless

Usually once you have some of the normal symptoms of the flu you might have to see the doctor to check if you have the swine flu. There can be diarrhea and other things

swine flu is basically the same as a normal flu - they have similar kill rate as well, it depends on how fit you are

swine flu has just had a lot more press

You won't able to. You'll know you have it when they say you have it.

one of them you get every year and the other one you could die

Wakey is an idiot it;s the flu people eat an orange and wash your hands

you die
