How is this swine flu different from the other flu?

So many people die from the regular flu every year.

What makes this one different? What is everyone so worried about?

Pigs act as incubators for regular flu...meaning regular, curable flu will enter a pig and remain inside if for 2-3 years. The pigs isn't badly affected, but something inside the pig promoted mutations in the flu.
Eventually, the flu emerges as something completely different, which it has done now. It also has found a way to spread among humans, which is incredibly dangerous. The U.S. can't formulate a vaccine to combat this flu until the fall.
So far about 170 people in Mexico have died, but I think only 1 in Texas has died, a 23 month old baby. I'm pretty sure it's not deadly if you have good medical treatment, which we have in the U.S, but its hard to tell. Its basically a waiting game.

An electron micrograph of swine flu. (CDC image) ... However, he says that the 1918 hemagglutinin does not appear to be very different from other flu strains. Other researchers are trying to improve predictions about which types of influenza may be prevalent in the future, to allow pharmaceutical companies to manufacture more...

Because this one is only one mark away from ''Pandemic'',and because there's no cure...yet. Also, deaths from this are growing with an alarming rate, which isn't characteristic for the common flu or the bird flu that was so big in Europe not so long ago. It's highly contagious (not that the regular flu isn't,but still)

comparing swine flu to the regular flu is like comparing a nfl linebacker on roid rage to a 16yr old computuer nerd..

Swine flu is alot more deadly.

swine flu spreads rapidly, its contagious, alot of symptoms of swine flu, and it can kill you.

plus, it attacks and kills otherwise healthy people, not just the young, elderly, and already ill.

Its just another form. 38000 die from the common flu every year and no it doesnt come from pigs. That is a myth

Its not.

It just sounds scary and the media loves to spread fear.

its highly cautagious
no vaccine
has a higher rate of deaths per infection

this one comes from pigs :)

it can kill you
