Why do we lose weight after a bout with an illness (flu, or general virus)?

1, because we don't feel like eating at all.

2, because our bodies are trying to flush out our systems to get rid of whatever is making us sick.

In conclusion, we lose weight because our bodies are trying to cleanse ourselves.
Well......this might be really off the wall, but....because we don't eat as much when we're sick?
It's due to the lack of the intake of food and the process of the fluids you loose.
we tend to lose weight when we are sick because, when you are that sick you just don't feel like eating because anything that you put down may come back up and nobody likes that.
you lose water weight. sweat, poo, vomit, etc.
Because your organism is weak and you barely eat, n don't retain the proteins that your body needs
