What is the healthiest fluid to rehydrate an adult following severe stomach flu-like symtoms?

Any non-caffeinated liquid will do.

The trick is to take a small sip every 5 to 15 minutes at first. This is unlikely to upset a weak stomach.

Work up to the usual 6 to 8 per day. There is no need to make yourself feel ill on water to try to undo the dehydration. 6-8 a day for a few days will bring you right back up.

Note that beverages like salted lemon water, or sports drinks do have electrolytes that are also needed by the body, but if you are able to eat food as well, those aren't necessary. Do watch for sports drinks that are loaded with sugar, the sugar doesn't help.
