Has anyone ever else felt so miserable as I do with the flu, I'm going crazy and need advice to relax?

I've got some sort of virus that is causing vomiting, dirrahea, and this horrible creepy crawly sensation from head to toe. It's been going on for 48 hrs. and I haven't sleeped at all. Every time I lay down, I start tossing and turning and I feel lilke honestly, just downing a whole bunch of alcohol or meds to knock me out. I can't help it, this is the worst virus I've ever had in 33 years. I'm so restless and irritable. My skin is crawling. I went to the Dr. and he took bloodwork to make sure nothing else is going on but I won't know results for a while. Would drinking a bit of alcohol help? I've already taken five Xanax and some benedyl and an ambien and still feel like hell. I NEED ADVICE ON HOW TO RELAX. PLEASE HELP.

As an adult, you know that mixing alcohol with any medications is ill-advised. Alcohol can potentiate some medications and the combination can produced bad effects. While I appreciate your discomfort, one needs to be patient. Most common viral infections last only about two weeks at the most, and many begin to loosen their grip in only a few days. Try warm baths both for the heat and also to induce relaxation. Warm drinks such as hot chocolate may help. Drink lots of fluids. Use drugs sparingly or only by your physician's advice. Many people overdose on pain medications and increase their headaches and discomfort. Avoid greasy food as with many illnesses, the oily foods tend to cause a general loss of appetite. Light foods such as ice cream, broths, jello and such are better tolerated. Also do as I do, enjoy your disease! When you recover, you will learn how great good health is. Why are you beating your head against the wall? Because it feels so good when I stop!!!
Theraflu or green tea! Next time, I recommend you get your flu shot every year from now on.
I'm no expert but I do know that if you've taken that much medicine alcohol is NOT the answer!! Most medicines warn against the use of alcohol in normal doses but with that much that warnings increased! I know your miserable and I'M SO SORRY! I've got family that's sick in the house right now..so I've seen the kind of misery your in. Just try watching TV, Listening to music, daydreaming, Talking to friends/family, SOMETHING that will get your mind off the pain for awhile. Try taking a warm/hot bath/shower...that's what I do to feel better when I'm sick.I hope you get well soon!!!
Maybe all the meds you are taking-5 Xanax is too much, with Benadryl and Ambien too. A warm bath is a good idea and let all that crap clear out of your system. Alcohol will NOT help.
The problem is you took some benedryl, with ambien and Xanax and now if you add alcohol you'll end up in the hospital. All 4 counteract against each other anad your body is going crazy. Now go get some HOT green tea (or regular if you cant get it) and start pouring it down with very little sugar in it - none if you can stomach it. Lay down on your left side. If you feel like you need to vomit, then do so and get that junk out of your system and replace it with tea again. Then get some HOT regular tea and lemon (again no or lite sugar) (NO MILK )and sip it with some crackers or plain bread to soothe your stomach. After all this take some Tyenol or aspiren and some more bread and tea and relax and sleep. You've got a long night ahead to catch up with the couple you just had. By morning you should go get some proper flu medicine. Never combine those meds again!
