GERD, chest pains, numbness in left arm?

Okay...So I have been having very slight chest pains, that I really can't say it is my heart that is hurting, because I have heard that if it is your heart, than you feel it in the center of your chest and not on the left side so much. I feel it right above my left breast, and sometimes it is a constant ache and sometimes it isn't there. This has been going on for about a month.
I also have been having a serious gas issue, so I attributed the chest pains to the gas, because it was very painful gas, and it was a lot of it. I t would go away for a few days, and come back with a vengeance for a week or more. This has also been going on for about a month.
Last night, I felt my index finger on my left hand go slightly numb, like the feeling you get when something goes to sleep, but I never had that tingly waking up feeling that I usually feel when say my foot goes asleep. I can feel it kind of traveling up my arm, but I also have been thinking about it all day, which can also be anxiety

from feeling like I am going to have a heart attack. On Tuesday I went to Urgent Care because the chest pains hadn't stopped after I had taken gas pills to get rid of some of the gas, and he did an EKG, and said it came back fine. I have some tenderness in my stomach when pushed on, and he told me he had an inkling that it was GERD. I have been diagnosed with acid reflux about 2 years ago, and had the same kind of chest pain, but I don't remember it lasting this long, and I never felt the numbness in my hand.
So he put me on Nexium, and I guess I have noticed that if I didn't take the Nexium as soon as I woke up, it would be hurting, but then I would take it and in about an hour, the chest pain would go away. Same thing for in the afternoon...the chest pain would come back so I would take another Nexium, and be okay in an hour. I am 20 years old, I smoke a little less than a pack a day, and I am about 50lb overweight.
Anyone with GERD felt this way? Do I need to go to the ER?

I have gone to the hospital for the same symptoms about 3 times now. The issues can be caused by G.E.R.D. This is normally triggered by high levels of stress or can be due to eating something that can aggravate it at the wrong time. In my opinion you need to see a doctor, but here is some helpful hints that will cause this to occur less.

I am not a doctor, so either way you will want to talk to them, but this is what I have to say as a long time sufferer of Acid Reflux (G.E.R.D.)!

Three part answer information, what not to do, and what to do!

INFORMATION!!!!!!
I have a very severe case of Acid Reflux (G.E.R.D.). I have had to go to the hospital for some of the heartburn that I have had because the pain can become overwhelming or your breathing can be effected. It can be caused by Smoking, Drinking Beverages with caffeine (My case), Drinking Beverages with Alcohol, or can be Hereditary

The good thing about G.E.R.D. is that it can be a temporary thing and can be cured. It is never a permit thing even if you end up with it for the rest of your life it has the ability to be cured.

G.E.R.D. is caused by too much acid being created in your stomach. This can lead to or cause ulcers, esophagus damage, heartburn and/or damage in the mouth.

WHAT NOT TO DO!!!!!!!!
In most cases, stress is a factor to the reflux if you watch what you eat and reduce some of the stress it will help. If you watch what you eat for about a week you should find relief, if you do not then that is when you definitely what to listen to the doctor. Things to watch for are as follows:

Fatty Foods
Citrus Foods
Foods That Contain Grease
Fried Foods
Chocolate (including any Coco)
Caffeine
Smoking
Alcohol
Tomato Based Products
Lactose
Onions

WHAT TO DO!!!!
The two foods that I recommend is Black strap Molasses and Raw honey. The apple is better for night time reflux while these will work for just about all of it. What you will do is take about a tsp. of whatever one you chose. Molasses being the better because of strength and nutrition, but must be use to the taste. What the substance will do is stick to the sides of the esophagus and do two things, one is heal and the other is protect.
On the healing end, both substances have a healing property in them, and as they sit on the walls of the esophagus they will heal it. This is also helpful if you have a sore throat in the morning from refluxing.
On the protection end, both substances are high in sugar and when acid that is refluxed comes up to that the sugar will neutralize it and it will not longer be a problem at that point.

I would also look to putting Cinnamon and Ginger in you diet, they have been know to help with digestion and will help you reduce the amount of acid needed to brake down food, therefore causing you to reflux less.

alot of the time, especially after abdominal surgeries, you will feel gas pains in the shoulder area... just stay in communication with your doctors and if you feel the need, go back to the ER.

I work at a GI DR office and you need to have a egd done!!!!!
I heard all of that all day go see a GI DR

Smoking and being overweight are going to make small problems into even bigger ones. Your best solution initially is to eat a low fat, healthy diet, stop smoking and exercise more. You might find your symptoms will disappear. If you're overweight it stands to reason that your stomach is stretched which is going to cause acid reflux.

hello my friend, i am studying pharamcy and I had GERD for about a year becouse i have been taking some medications for more than 3 monthes and these medications caused GERD as a side effect,,, so my symptoms were chest pain in the left side and coughing alot.
but never felt a numb arm ,,, I advice u to check a doctor and even do an ECG it can be an angina or something related to heart. heart , stomch and lungs diseases have similar symptoms.

Whenever you have chest pain you must seek medical attention.

A lot of times shoulder pain can be attributed to abdominal issues. However, it really concerns me that you have radiating pain to your back as well. You need to be tested for any cardiac, cardiopulmonary problems.

You need to be tested for GERD, when you were diagnosed, what tests did they perform? Endoscopy can rule out Barrett's esophagus and other diseases such as cancer or ulcers that can have symptoms similar to GERD.

As far as your index finger going numb, this is most likely due to a blocked nerve of some sort (could also be a vascular issue), sometimes this can be from irritation, pressure, injury. If this persists and it really bothers you, see a neurologist.
