Can GERD cause pain in your teeth?

Can GERD cause pain in your teeth?

You know, it's strange that you ask this question because I have GERD and lately I have had a lot of pain in my teeth shooting up to my ear. At first I thought it was part of my sinus infection (I was getting over a bad virus). Now, the infection is gone after 10 days on Omnicef, but the pain is still there in my ear. However, I AM a bruxer. I have been suffering from bruxism for several years. GERD can be caused by stress, and bruxism is also caused by stress. Talk to your dentist. I got a night guard for my bruxism and it made a huge difference. If that isn't the problem, talk to a doctor anyway. They're so smart! =) I just read an article that talked about possible pain in your teeth, which would cause pain in the ear as well. 2nd link below.

Not that I have ever heard of. Do you have a sinus infection?

If your reflux is bad enough that you are actually getting bile back flow in to your mouth the stomach acid over time can erode the enamal off your teeth making them more sensitive

I have suffered from GERD and never experienced any tooth pain.

Nor, have I ever read any liturature that has mentioned that.

However, if you are taking medication for GERD, I suppose it's possible that could be one of the side effects, but you'd need to check the liturature that came with your medication to see if that is listed as a possible side effect.

Otherwise, there may be something going on dentally, and it's probably not a bad idea to make an appointment with your dentist.
