I'm suffering from gerd and i have been on medication and i just wonder if its going to get any better.? |
am i over reacting ? is it normal for young people to suffer from this horrible thing ? does medication really help ? my son has been having the same problem since he was born and a lot of young people have ths problem. Sometimes it takes at least a month for the meds to really take affect and if they dont help then try something else. it depends on what is causing the gerd. but you'll probably have it for life. i have had it since i was in middle school. it's good to be on the medication bcuz uncontrolled it can lead to esophageal cancer which still has pretty low recovery rates. follow up with your doctor. write down your questions and have them answered BEFORE you leave the office. It can take several weeks for it to work. The PPIs take a while to work, but once they do, they work well. |
