This is going to sound completely off the wall but you need to look up braggs vinegar and read about it. If you take 2 tsp before each meal you will see this problem go away over about a months worth of time. I just carried the bottle with me so I had it with me at all times. It really does work, it tastes like hell and its the only brand that does this.

Good luck.

I've had gerd for many years & able to lessen the symptoms by eliminating certain foods that trigger it..Not just me but many others & recommended by gastro dr's.

Stay away from foods & drinks that could trigger your symptoms.Onions, tomatoes, soft drinks, coffee & all high fat foods..Best to eat smaller meals at a time even if you eat more then 3 times a day...

They say smoking weakens the muscle that controls the opening between the esophagus & stomache so if possible try not to smoke.. Still do (sigh)

Also, elevate your bed so your head & chest are higher than your feet.It really helps me..

There are several meds which relieve the gerd, such as Nexium,Prevacid,Prilosec,ie..Do see a Gastro Dr if this continues as could be dangerous if you let this go..Don't mean to scare you just be aware OK..

And yes,be leery of anyone who promises a quick cure, can't be done, unfortunately!

Sorry for being so long, Best Wishes

Yes. The first and easiest way to treat it is to change WHAT you eat and WHEN you eat a meal.

Try not to eat greasy foods or spicy foods especially in the evening. Try to eat more frequent and smaller meals instead of 3 big meals. If you notice a certain food giving you heartburn, then avoid it. Try elevating the head of the bed by 6 inches to cause you to to sleep in a slightly upright. position. Tums' antacids work instantly and can give you relief whenever you need it. If this doesnt work, then you can try some of the stronger antiacid medications such as prilosec.

...weight loss helps, if you are overweight
...do not lay down (for at least an hour) after meals
...sleep with your head and shoulders elevated on pillows
...no bedtime snacks
...there are lots of OTC meds that can help!

Good luck! kjl
