I have GERD !!!?

Uhm
well I had a fundoplication when I was 4 because I was born without a sphincter.

Im 14 now.
I take omeoprazole and gaviscon daily, but I still get reflux.

I mainly get upper abdominal pain that is worse with I suck in.

I get pretty bad chest pain when I first wake up in the mornings (it really hurts to inhale in my chest)

Sometimes heart burn
Lots of burping and trouble swallowing. Like I can feel food getting stuck in my esophagos and I cant eat without water.

I had a checkup endoscopy about 6 months ago which showed an inflamed esophagus / scarring and mucus.

I get mucus in my poos sometime too.

Mehh

I dont know why this happens when I take the medicine.

Has anyone else ever had this happen even though they are taking high doses of medicine?

I take the most powerful omeoprazole (proton pump inhibitor, and gaviscon)

so yehh
haha
thanks

Lactose intolerance can cause acid reflux, alternating bouts of constipation & diahorrea and will also lead to a compromised digestive system thus laying the groundwork for a body which is extremely susceptible to developing nose, throat, sinus, ear, bronchial, bladder and other infections as well....... Other symptoms you may be suffering from are mucous in the stools, bloating and cramping, digestive troubles such as constipation, belching and burping, gassiness and wet f*arting (sorry, no other way to say it), ribbony and stringy shaped bowel movements or rabbit pellet shaped movements are all symptoms of lactose intolerance. ...........

Basically allergies to certain foods such as milk and dairy will produce all these symptoms because your digestive system has been compromised by it's inability to digest that food .......... You need to pinpoint the culprit here and eliminate all dairy milk products for a couple of days and note how youthen feel ............. this includes foods such as milk, yoghurt, ice cream, cheese (although cheese is extremely low in lactose and you may still be able to tolerate it), cream etc.etc.etc.

please ensure that you take a calcium supplement containing vitamin D3 as they both rely on each other for effective absorption and increase your intake of non dairy calcium rich foods as calcium is essential for healthy bones, teeth and for heart health and also for a healthy digestive and neural system............... do you also have problems with headaches and migraines, insomnia and irritability and moodiness and even achy bones ?? If so, this is because your calcium intake is being hindered by the lactose intolerance 鈾?br>
foods rich in calcium are ~ leafy and green vegies, sardines, salmon, tofu, nuts and seeds, peanuts, walnuts and sunflower seeds (ensure all nuts and seeds are organic to avoid pesticides, preservatives & sulfites which may disrupt effective digestion) kale, broccoli and collard greens.

Also ensure that you are drinking loads of fresh filtered water on a daily basis as being a bit dehydrated would only further stress an already compromised system ............. ;0)

Antacids such as Omeoprazole & Gaviscon are only at best bandaiding the situation by temporarily resolving your symptoms ~ their main function is to alleviate the reflux by neutralising ALL the acid in your stomach, that's a Bad thing because you need stomach acids such as hydrochloric acid to Digest your food .......... hence, the next time you eat your symptoms recurr because your stomach acids are diluted and useless and the source of the problem ....... Low Stomach Acid has not been addressed.......... Increase your stomach's production of hydrochloric acid by eating more foods rich in magnesium ie ~ leafy and green vegies, fresh cold water fishes such as tuna, sardines and salmon and by pinpointing foods to which you are allergic....... you really do need to try to resolve this problem from the source as acid reflux is NOT an ongoing problem if you deal with it at its root cause ie ~ effective digestion.

good health 2 you & yours

CHEERS Report It

I had this, used to come up and burn my nose and throat. Then the plant nurse told me to elevate the head of my bed. She said to get two cement blocks and put the head on the bed on the blocks. Then I also started sleeping on two pillows instead of one. I was on everything, but Prilosec, omeprazole delayed release tablets helped me the most, I now take one 20 mg tablet and it works all day. You can buy them over the counter now too.
I found it helped if I ate 6 small meals instead of three big ones. I did not eat or drink anything after six O'Clock in the evening. And when it seemed I was having a really bad time of it, I went on the BRAT diet. Bananas, rice(well cooked), applesauce and toast. Hope this helps.

Reflux is an ongoing condition. I don't know what preventive measures you take. As far as food, if it bothered you before, it probably will again, so stay away from it.
Try to sit upright for 45-60 minutes after every meal. Elevate the head of your bed. Avoid tight clothing/bras. There may also be other medications your doctor can try in addition to or instead of the omeprazole. The end result of the medicine may be the same, but the action may be just enough different that it responds better for your body.
Are you taking your omeprazole an hour before your meal. It does work better on an empty stomach. The pain in your chest on waking, scarring in your esophagus is probably because when you lay flat to sleep, the gastric acid in your stomach is still "backing up" and keeping the esophagus irritated.
If you have been doing this since a child, you probably know most of what I have written, but maybe I was able to tell you something that helps. Good luck.
