GERD? Any mothers experience this?

My daughter is 3 months old and was diagnosed with GERD. I was wondering if there are any mothers out there that can give me their experiences with this and their babies. I was wondering what exactly it is, what babies go through, what to expect, are there any dangers, does it go away, long term effects, etc.. I read on the net somethings but noone knows more then mother who have the experience. Any information that any of you can provide me would be so appreciated. Thanks..

My 7 month old has GERD. He gets soy formula and meds 3x a day. He is on Axid. Some advice- keep her propped up a bit when feeding her, and for at least a half hour afterward., don't lay her down. This lets gravity digest the milk so she's not refluxing it. Buy a wedge and put it on her mattress so it elevates her head. Use bottles rated for colic ( we have a lot of luck with Playtex drop ins) and make formula in advance and let it sit out- when you shake it, it puts air bubbles in the formula which made it word for my son. We make the formula, then let it sit in the fridge for a few hours, then warm it and give it to him.
