Bread bad for GERD?

I have no idea what to eat. I have GERd and I know that I have to stay away from tons of stuff. But, can I eat bread??

I have GERD too & I suffer severe pyrosis[heart burn] although I'm 21 years old & I'm thin.Any way the thing you have to do is at first reduction of your weight if you are obese&sleeping while elevating the head of the bed.
Avoid eating at least 4 hours before sleep.
Stay away from fatty foods,alcohol,smoking,chochola... & drugs which lower the lower oesophageal sphincter pressure.
Also you may have to use some phamaceutical preparations as:
Antacids e.g GLYCODAL.
H2 blockers e.g rantidine[rantak,zantac,],NIZA...
Proton pump inhibitors e.g omeprazole.
I read in Kumar that they are over the counter in UK & USA.In fact I don't know as here all drugs are over the counter.haaaaa.Good luck.Hope this helps.Oh dear I forgot to tell you about bread,Yes of course you can eat bread, but it's much more better to eat bread with bran as it has many benifits,it acts as roughage because of fibers ,acts to lower blood glucose level,so protects you from post prandial hyperglycemia, also it lowers blood cholesterol level & so helps control hypertension & as it decreases fat,so it's useful in GERD.Also it contains vitamins specially vitamin B12,well,that's enough,If I remembered anything else I'll tell you,Bye....I have to sleep now.... Source(s): I'm a 5th year medical student.
Yes, bread is ok. Try to stay away from foods that aggravate acid production, such as alcohol, chocolate, sometimes milk, or fatty foods. And stop smoking if you do. I suggest whole-grain bread instead of just white.
