Other drug for GERD? |
I need to know if there are any drugs to strengthen the LES. I am already taking prevacid, to stop the production of acid from the stomach. But this is not enough to keep fluids from going up. I need a drug to strengthen my sphincter muscle. I had such a TERRIBLE and uncaring GI doctor, that is why I am turning to yahoo. maybe someone else out there is a GI, an RN, or has been perscribed a drug by their doctor... prevacid needs t be taken in a really high dose & for some time (weeks ) to notice a benefit.Try 2 tab three times a day, seriously & not simply 1 or 2 tab at ight. Contarary to public believe, GERD may turn to be very hard to treat. You may ADD (Metaclopromide10 mg three time s a day) to increase LES pressure & decrease the reflux. Try to sleep in semierect position (raise the bed head). stop smoking (very important),avoid alcohol & avoid spices altogether. loose some weight if you are FAT. dont use any aspirin or advil. Good luck The LES is a involunatry muscle so there isn't really anything that you can do or take to strengthen the sphincter. When do you have the serious symptoms? But for the most part don't eat and drink after 8 pm. Nexium or pepcid which are two different drugs that work. I take nexium. It helps me a lot!! http://www.purplepill.com/ |
