Who out there has had the nissen fundo surgery for gerd? I am scheduled to have mine in March i am really sca

Hi. I had the fundo surgery 1 year ago. It was difficult at first. Take it VERY slowly after the surgery. The more you baby yourself in the first few months, the better you will take to the surgery. I went slower than the doctor even recommended because I am on a yahoo group site and learned many things. It is located at: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ref...

I highly suggest you join that group. They are very helpful. You will hear many positive and negative possibilities from the surgery. I learned from the mistakes of others before and after the surgery.

One year after the surgery, I am able to eat most things. I still need to be careful with bready things and definitely NO carbonated drinks!!

Best of luck to you. You will be fine. My surgeon was one of the top teaching surgeons in NYC and was great. The whole team was great. I do caution you to do your research and make sure your surgeon has done PLENTY of these surgeries. Source(s): My own personal experience...
