Is anyone out there suffering from Barret's Disease. It's a form of GERD. The disease can turn into cancer |
If you have Baret's Disease, what meds do you take, are you on any special diet. Does it go away? There is little information on this type of GERD only that it is a rare condition of GERD. Thanks http://www.medicinenet.com/barretts_esop... I was reading up on Barrett's....The reason that such precise descriptions need to be made is because a false positive diagnosis of Barrett's may have serious implications. Thus, the diagnosis of Barrett's esophagus can lead to higher rates (costs) for obtaining life, health, or disability insurance, or sometimes even difficulty getting insurance at all. On the other hand, it's important to know when Barrett's is, in fact, present so that the patient can be enrolled in a proper surveillance program. If the diagnosis of Barrett's esophagus is uncertain or equivocal, then it is worthwhile obtaining a second opinion with specialists in a center that has had extensive experience with Barrett's. There are at least three reasons for obtaining this additional consultation I didn't see where that website talked about medications though. I know what acid reflux is and have kept away from that by chewing food a lot before swallowing. I sleep on my side with the top part of me elevated. I don't eat after 6PM. I changed my diet to be vegetarian (no meat), I stopped drinking coffee and tea (I drink water and milk). My meals are small and I eat only once a day. I was listening to a chiropractor talk on his radio show and he said acid reflux is caused either because of "both" of these two things: either the stomach has too much acid or not enough acid.so I went about slowing down the acid in my stomach. There are lots of sites devoted to this disease. It is called Barrett's Esophagus. Perhaps you aren't looking it up correctly? It doesn't go away. It needs to be monitored by EGD every year to check to make sure it hasn't converted to cancer. im not exactly sure what your disease is.... but go here, it may save your life! this diet has cured many other illnesses, weight and skin problems. good luck http://www.thepaleodiet.com/index.shtml... Barrett's Esophogitis can develop as a complication of reflux when the lining of the esophagus has been so irritated for so long because of stomach acid and inflammation that they mutate into cells not usually found in humans called specialized columnar cells. It is very dangerous and can become cancerous so it has to be monitored regularly. I've had reflux and been checked for this condition. |
