Infant with reflux / GERD?

My son is 7 weeks old and does nothing but cry cry cry. He has reflux. We put him on reigidine(?) to help and we started putting cereal in his bottle. He's still really fussy and cries A LOT. Have any of you tried anything that works? How long will this last? Any helpful advise?

I had the same problem with my little guy. Are you sure its acid reflux? They had me giving him baby zantec and a whole slew of other things. I thought I was going to die because I was so tired. FINALLY I had the smartest peditrician set me straight. First of all his problem was mainly gas so I just learned to gently bicycle his legs and pump them back and forth for what seemed like a long time and it helped get the gas out. My peditrician said that babies that young actually nuerologically are unable to digest properly and so because its a developmental issue medicines will have NO effect on new infants. Also, some new babies like mine, just cry alot. That explained why meds never worked. The only other thing that soothed a bit was gripe water. And she was right, I had to hang in there with him and it did go away. They say at 3 months they get better, mine took till almost 4 months and then seriously like the say one day he just stopped and slept through the night. He's been the best sleeper ever since. Hang in there- it sucks but does get better. A friend of mine also had their baby sleeping on a wedge that elecated there little guy so he was not totally flat. they swear by that. Every baby is different and there is so much info out there don't rest until you find what works for you and your unique little bundle.
I give my son prevacid solutab once a day and it has made a complete difference in him as a whole baby.
I found that if I put my baby down to sleep right after she ate it was worse. Keep him up for about 30 minutes and it might help.
My daughter has silent reflux, which we realized at around 7 weeks. The pediatrician put her on Prevacid solutabs and it has helped a lot. It took maybe a full week to start working good but it did make a big difference. Also, are you feeding him formula - I'm breastfeeding and I know from other groups I visit online that some babies with reflux have a hard time with certain formula's. I do put cereal in her bottles while she's at daycare. I also used gripe water because she was extremely gassy and that helped. She still cried off and on occasionally and every night around 6 pm, but that has passed.

My daughter is now 20 weeks and I no longer have to use the gripe water, sometimes before bed the pedi said to give her Maalox to help her sleep. My daughter is teething now and likes to make spitty noises so a lot of the times I'm giving her her medicine she ends up spitting it out so I'm not sure she still even needs it - when she goes for her 6 month checkup I'm going to ask the pedi about it.

It's hard but it will pass, I never thought it would but around 4 months she started growing out of it. Hang in there.
