Heartburn, GERD, Acid Reflex - What are the symptoms and how do I cure the pain?

Heartburn, GERD and Acid Reflux aren't diseases but conditions. In a lot of cases they can be solved without medication.

You probably didn't know this but when you swallow, if there are little bits of food that have not been completely chewed, they will actually scratch and damage the delicate cells of the esophgaus. This damage is usually in the form of tiny cuts or lesions and when acidic beverages like tomato or orange juice come in contact with this damage you will experience pain or a burning sensation in the chest area. Alcohol and spicy foods are also a no-no for many sufferers.

When your acidic stomach gases reflux into your esophagus and come in contact with these sores or lesions you will also experience a pain or burning sensation, because the stomach gases are also acidic. It's much like spilling acidic vinegar on a cut...it will cause you pain.

Oh my! I just red the above and what can I say????
It's completely wrong.
I wish if people are going to 'quote' from sites that they actually know something about what they are quoting for.
And he still didn't answer your question.
And just for the heck of it I went to the site quotted from and it's a Quack Cure site peddling false information and selling you things that will not work.

GERD stands for Gastro Eospgageal Reflux Disorder. Heartburn is a different condition.

Reflux is caused by the stomach valve, called the cardiac sphincter, does not close fully, and allows stomach acid to come out and burn the oesphagus. This eventually causes ulcers as stomach acid is just that. Acid.

Heartburn is when the stomach acid is too strong for your stomach and it causes pain in the gut. There maybe an underlying problem in the gut such as a small ulceration.

The symptoms of these disorders is a burning, often excrutiating pain often mistaken for a heart attack. Nausea and 'spew' burps.

The way to 'cure' the pain is to take some strong over the counter ant acids for a start. If these do not do the trick the Doctor can prescribe H2 inhibitors such as Nexium or Losec which work very well.
Weight lose if you need to loose some.
Qitting smoking.
Avoiding spicy foods and eating 2 hours before bedtime.
Eating smaller amounts of food in one sitting.
And having your head propped up at bedtime.

If your suspect GERD or heartburn please see your Doctor so it can be controlled well as it does have long term complications that can easily become major.
