How does the development of genetic testing affect people in general?

it depends on what kind of genetic testing you are refering to. if you are talking about molecualr diagnostics and developing profiles of individuals and the predisposition to certain inherited diseases... then you face the ethical issue of informing people of what might happen. this could make it difficult for people to get insurance, jobs, health care etc etc.

if you are talking about genetic testing using stem cells, the effect could be beneficial in that it may help cure currently incureable diseases, but you again have the ethical issue of how stem cells are collected and what they should be used for.

then you have the ultimate sci fi situation of cloning... HUGE ethical issued with cloning humans... but even cloning food and plants, you run the rist of limiting the natural variation in genetic make up... which could ultimately lead to a world of homogenuity....
