Has anyone had a CVS (genetic testing) and gotten a bad result.....what did you do?

I am waiting for the results of a CVS (Chorionic Villi Sample) test and I don't know what to do if it comes back as a genetic problem (I am pushing 40 and the risks are higher).

Right now, we found out 2 days ago that our son has an omphalocele and I had to be rushed to an High Risk doctor. I decided to go along with the Amino fluid test to look for other defects. I have to wait 10 days for the results. It's very frightning and it makes you very anxious. But I know in the end everything will be okay regardless. But I hope and I will pray that everything will turn out okay, every lil bit of prayer works. Hang in there, and try to think positive as am I.

I opted not to do so. The results are not very accurate. I am 26. I know the older the woman, the more risky the pregnancy, however I don't agree with the majority of the results. If information packet my doctor gave me basically said that it's 40% accurate. Not a good enough number for me! I knew of at least 7 people who got genetic testing and the results came back with issues. All 7 people had healthy babies. Some of the babies are not babies anymore! And they are very normal. You can get it done, but don't go getting an abortion just because they say there is a problem. Many times, there is NOT. A simple miscalculation in the due date can have them tell you your baby will have a genetic defect. Don't worry.

My mom, who's 37, had my sister 8 months ago, and they did all kinds of tests with her - which can be scary while you're pregnant. But everything came out okay - They usually tell you statistics when you go.
