Is there a genetic test for Parkinson's disease?

Is there a genetic test for Parkinson's disease?

Whilst advances are being made in this field, work is required to identify more genes. There is also a complication of mutations.
I add a link which has some reports on this subject, that you may find interesting 鈥?

I don't know the answer to your question, but in yesterday's (Sunday) New York Times, in the "Magazine" section, there was a REALLY good article about genetic testing. It pertained to a young woman who had Huntington's Disease in her family, and chose to get tested.

By getting tested, she not only found out that she will get it, but that her MOM will get it also. (Her mother had not wanted to know.) It brought up several issues that a person faces when they have the option of finding out if they will develop a disease or not, and family issues are at the top of the list.

It was a REALLY interesting article. Here's the link:

I hope you are well. I have an aunt who died of Parkinson's, so I understand your fears. Here's a saying that really helps me: Don't mortgage today by worrying about tomorrow.
