Has anyone ever gotten a FALSE POSITIVE result when testing for Genital Herpes(HSV-2)?

For example, has anyone tested (blood test) for genital herpes and it came back abnormal or positive and when you re took another blood test you ended up being negative and not having HSV-2? Is this possible?

Anything is possible. The way that herpes is detected through blood is by antibodies. If you have herpes, your body starts to produce antibodies to help your body fight off the disease, therefore reducing the number of outbreaks that you have. However in some cases....things like stress and menstruation can weaken your immune system making your body over power the antibodies and you get an outbreak. The only way you can test negative and then test positive is if your body hasn't started producing the antibodies yet. Go to another Dr and get tested....don't tell them you have herpes as this would only result in them telling you that you are positive. Just tell them you want to be tested for all STDs and see how things turn out. Good Luck!!

I work in the field and unfortunately answer is no. However you can get a false negative. It has to be active to be detected. So if you aren't having an outbreak you could test negative.
