Has anyone ever have a FALSE positive on an STD blood test?? For example genital herpes?

My doctor called and said it came back high for my HSV-2(genital herpes) blood test but he wants me to come take another blood test tomorrow to check cause he "can't tell".....

Could this just be a false positive??
if so what are the chances?
has anyone had this kind of experience, please help me...?

If I remember correctly, at least one of the blood tests for genital herpes tests for the amount of antibodies in your blood. If the result is a high number - you've got herpes. If it's a low number - you don't have herpes. But if its an in-between number, then you probably have herpes, but maybe not. I'll bet that this is why your doctor wants you to take another test.

You might suggest that he try a completely different type of test - because there are several brands and types. Some are actually more reliable than others.

i don't think you can get a false positive std blood test cuz they are checking your blood and blood does not lie. I'm sorry to hear that you might have a possiblity of having it. Coconut oil might even help regain your bodies normal functions i have been using coconut oil for 6 months now and i haven't gotten sick at all when i usually do but i don't have those diseases. search online u will find interesting info.

It's possible false. Not all tests get true results. Many people have misdiagnosis. You can ask this question at the STD social and dating site called pozcupid .com. They are professional.
