STD tests for genital herpes?

is they do a urine test will genital herpes show up on that? or in a regular annual exam will they test for genital herpes if you dont request that they do????

they won't test u for herpes unless u ask them to, tell them that u think u may have herpes and they will know what to do from there. normally a blood test is done or a swab culture of an actual outbreak. the blood test can tell u which type u have but not the location as herpes can affect mainly the mouth and the gentials.

To test for herpes, you use a strain-specific blood test, or lesion swab if lesions are present. HSV will not show up in a urine culture. Focus Labs offers HerpeSelect, which tests for HSV-1 and HSV-2, differentiating between both.

Many insurance companies won't cover a herpes test, and most clinics do not offer it for free. You must request it as an additional test during your examination UNLESS you are getting a prenatal panel. Herpes serology is included in the prenatal panel.

MOST people who have genital herpes DO NOT KNOW they have it. Most people **never** have symptoms. Or they get them so mildly they don't notice it, or they mistake it for razor burn. It is very easy to not know if you have herpes.

If you have genital herpes, there is no way you could not know. Your genitals would be covered is open sores that have a stabbing, striating pain after itching for a couple days.
