What was your FIRST genital herpes outbreak like?

Describe it because im quite confused.

I started off by just feeling very sore - I thought I just had a very bad yeast infection. I did actually have a yeast infection too - herpes can sometimes trigger one. This went on for a couple of days, and then I noticed I had a 'cut' at the entrance of my vagina, at the back - no blisters at all though. At this point I thought something was up and I went to the doctor. She took one look and told me it was herpes, and gave me valtrex.

After that I started feeling ill - I ran a temperature like I had the worst flu ever, and I got some discomfort up near my cervix, not pain. It didn't get to look any worse down below, it was the fever that was the worst, but it did hurt enough for me to have a few warm baths a day to soak in. It didn't hurt when I needed to peethough, and no other sores.

The 'cut' healed in about 5-7 days. and the fever lasted about 3-4. After that, I got tingling on and of for a few weeks, because the virus was still quite active. I got an outbreak every month for the first four months, but they were never as bad as that.

My fist outbreak i miss took it as a bladder infection. Hurt to pee. Sore Bladder. Had to go all the time. Lower back pain. Swollen glands in the groin area. Fever, flue like symptoms. Body aches and so forth. Never did or do get the sores. I have HSV1(oral). This is the milder form and is the cause of most oral infections. But i have it in the genital area. HSV2 is most common on the genitals but you can get either one either place.HSV2 is more painfull and causes breakout more often. So depending on the strain you have, your symptoms may be more sever.

My first outbreak was basically an open sore near my anus. It was more like a paper cut than anything else - no blisters. It lasted much longer than my subsequent outbreaks - perhaps as long as two weeks (I don't remember very clearly.) And it hurt a LOT.

At first, I thought that I had scratched myself somehow. I didn't think that it could be herpes - never crossed my mind.

Finally, I went to the doctor. He did a swab - and immediately told me it was herpes. I cried a lot. While it was painful, it was so much worse emotionally than it was physically - that's what I remember the most. How horrible I felt about myself.
