How long does it take before genital herpes appears after exposure? |
How long does it take before genital herpes appears after exposure? It usually takes a period of 7-12 days, but some infected persons never have an active breakout. The most accurate way to be diagnosed is by having a blood test. Signs and symptoms of Herpes can be different for each person. Most times, when you become infected with Herpes for the first time, the symptoms appear within 2 to 10 days. And this first episode may last between 2 to 3 weeks. An outbreak can be something as small as inflammation down there, ie. it looks swollen, or even just a slight burning sensation, or a small itch or tingle. It can take weeks or even months to have a visible outbreak, it could happen right away. I can take anywhere from 7 days to never ever having symptoms. It really varies from person to person. Someone can go through life and not even know they have it. It takes from 1-3months after exposure, usually the first outbreak is the worst. If you don't see anything after 2 months, there is a very high chance that you didn't get it. |
