My ex has genital herpes.. do i?

I found out my ex has genital herpes.he barely found out.he didnt seem to have any cold sores onhis face or nothing, he gave them to his ex when they has sex, she gave them to her new boyfriend.. my ex an I NEVER had sex.. never any kind of oral sex or whatever.. all we did was make-out and kiss... is it possible that I could have them? im only 16.. and i really dont know what to do.. i dont want to tell my mom, because shell like freak out. and well my ex doesnt know i know, his ex told my friend, who told me. im just really worried..i dont know what to do.. like should i get tested? or what? i really need help. =/

You shouldnt have genital herpes if you two never had sex, and never had oral sex. If he has oral herpes he may have given them to you though. That being said oral herpes is the same thing as cold sores. LOTS of people get them. Like 80% of all people have oral herpes. So you wont be alone. You cant get Genital herpes from kissing. There are 2 different types of herpes HSV1 & HSV2. HSV1 is oral herpes which only means that it prefers to live in the mouth and HSV2 is genital herpes which prefers to live below the belt. You can get either one either place. I have HSV1 on my genitals. I only get about 1 outbreak a yr because it is oral herpes on my genitals. Not its prefered place to live so i dont get many outbreaks and they are very mild, its hard to tell if I am having an outbreak or not sometimes. He is your X and you say you didnt have sex so you DONT have genital herpes. I wouldnt worrie about it. If you get a cold sore just remember in the future, if you give oral sex to someone you can give them genital herpes. So never give oral when you have a cold sore. Hope this helped. Good luck.

I would get checked out just to be on the safe side... Plus it will relieve some stress once you find out.

It's possible if he had bleeding gums, or some sores in his mouth, etc. that he/ you didn't notice.

Go to a planned parenthood or a health department and get checked out for free.

get tested and be thankful you did not have oral, anal or vaginal sex with him!

Just to to the doctor and ask for a blood test for that disease.

You can get herpes from just kissing. That's how I got mine. It can also be passed thru sharing towels, it's a tough virus! Another reason not to share items like that in gyms, etc. with girlfriends. You'll know you got it if you get a watery blister on your mouth or lips. The first outbreak is the worst, then it subsides,and it's just a nuisance, for the most part, if it's just oral variety. My wife does NOT have them, and I haven't given them to her since we've been together 10 years. So it's not as dreadful as it could be, although genital herpes is probably worse. Anyway, just wait for an outbreak, if you don't get watery, painful lip sores, you're ok. No way to test for it if it hasn't broken out yet.

Recurrence: When you encounter certain stresses, emotional or physical, the virus may reactivate and cause new sores and symptoms.
